William K. Watkins

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of William K. Watkins, 89, of Clarksburg, MD.  Billy passed away suddenly at home on Friday, April 12, 2024, doing exactly what he loved, working in the yard with his boots on.  

He was born at home in Clarksburg, MD on February 25, 1935, to the late Roy and Bessie Watkins.  He was self-employed as the owner/operator of W. W. Windows Company for 50 plus years. Billy was one of the original investors and sat on the first Board of Directors at Damascus Community Bank.   

Billy was an avid sports fan, cheering on his beloved Maryland Terrapins Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, Washington Redskins/Commanders, Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Orioles.  He enjoyed playing golf with his hometown buddies, and enjoyed hunting with his lifelong friend Paul M.  As a younger man, he sponsored, managed, and played in many local softball games and tournaments with his W. W. Windows softball team.  Billy had many friends and was known for his amazing quick wit and the ability to make everyone laugh.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Toby, and sister Lois.  He is survived by sister Grace; his devoted wife of 70 years, Barbara L. (Abrahams)

Watkins, also of Damascus; eldest son Joseph (Joey), daughter Tamara (Tami) Porter and husband Tom; daughter Traci Allen and husband Anthony; 5 grandchildren, Kristin (Porter) Chilton, Jeffrey Porter and wife Sarah; Stephen Porter and wife Samantha; Alexa (Allen) Curtis and husband Mike; and Michael Allen; along with 6 great-grandchildren, Benjamin Chilton, Lila Porter, Violet Porter, Sophie Porter, Aria Curtis, and Bryson Curtis.  A seventh great-grandchild, baby boy Porter, is expected in September.  He is also survived by his beloved family dog, Holly.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road in Damascus.  Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Damascus United Methodist Church, 9700 New Church Street, Damascus, MD 20872.  Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick MD.  A reception will follow at the home of Traci and Anthony Allen.
